Characteristics of Intelligent Luminaires

There are two main categories of intelligent luminaires:

Moving luminaires (Moving Heads): Where the instrument itself is moved.
Accessories such as color changing systems and gobo selection can be added to the luminaire or are incorporated into it.
Fixed luminaires: Where the instrument is stationary and at a fixed orientation. An external moving plane mirror effects movement of the light beam. Other dynamic features are also incorporated into the luminaire.

Intelligent luminaires of both categories have advanced optical systems capable of controlling the movement of the beam, the color of the light, its diffusion, beam focus, gobo (outline) projections, shutters and other effects  . The variety and complexity of the effects offered vary from one manufacturer and model to the next and from one price range to the next.

These luminaires are controlled by dedicated computerized systems with sophisticated software which enables smooth and accurate control of the light beam movement
